The grapefruit comes from the rutaceous family (Rutaceae) and is a cross between the orange and the pomelo. The name grapefruit is a combination of the English words grape and fruit and refers to the vine-like form in which the fruits grow on the tree. The skin should glow, feel firm and the fruit can be stored naturally on the tree until it is needed.
